Alicia Keys' Fifth Studio Album 'Girl On Fire' Debuts At #1 Album On Billboard's Albums Charts

LOS ANGELES, CA, DECEMBER 5, 2012 – Fourteen-time Grammy®-winning singer, songwriter and producer, Alicia Keys, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, #1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #1 on the Top Digital Albums chart with the release of her fifth studio album, GIRL ON FIRE (RCA Records). In addition to being the best-selling R&B album in the U.S., GIRL ON FIRE reached number one on the iTunes album chart in 19 countries. The title track is approaching one million single sales and is #3 on the digital single sales chart, while rapidly climbing the top 40 radio charts. The next single “Brand New Me” is currently most added at urban radio formats. This marks Keys’ fourth album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Keys hold the distinction as the first female R&B artist to have three consecutive #1 album debuts on the Billboard 200 album chart.

GIRL ON FIRE debuted on November 27th to widespread acclaim from music writers and critics. In its four-star review, Rolling Stone, hailed GIRL ON FIRE, as “one of the best R&B records of 2012.” Over the past few weeks, Keys has made a number of high-profile appearances including the distinct honor of “lighting up” the Empire State Building’s iconic skyline in a stunning presentation of synchronized lighting as the title track, “Girl on Fire” played on 4 of New York’s biggest radio stations; a global premiere YouTube live stream with Google+ Hangout where she gave fans an exclusive first listen of the album; and has made a number of national TV appearances including Katie Couric, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, BET’s 106 & Park, CBS’ Person to Person, ABC’s Good Morning America and Nightline and FOX’s The X-Factor. Keys is expected to announce tour dates for 2013 in the coming weeks.

Keys is also one of the artists performing in 12-12-12: The Concert for Hurricane Sandy Relief at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden. The line-up includes performances by Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Kanye West, Billy Joel and The Who, among many others.
