[New York, NY – August 15, 2012] – Musician/singer/songwriter ELLE VARNER’s debut album PERFECTLY IMPERFECT (MBK/RCA) takes the #2 spot on this week’s Billboard R&B Albums chart and #4 on the Billboard Top 200, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album continues to claim the #1 spot on the iTunes R&B/Soul chart.
PERFECTLY IMPERFECT arrived on August 7th to spectacular reviews from critics and fans alike. Associated Press stated the “newcomer’s 11-track set is pure excellence… she should have called it ‘Perfect.’” People magazine bestowed a 3 ½ star (out of 4) rating and stated “her scratchy, gritty texture – along with her jazzy phrasing – lends quirky character to a buzzworthy debut that isn’t afraid to buck genre conventions.” PERFECTLY IMPERFECT scored “Must List” honors from Entertainment Weekly along with the magazine’s declaration that “the charismatic 23-year-old’s debut is quickly becoming one our favorite R&B records of the year.”
The chart topping album, which includes the J. Cole assisted, “Only Wanna Give It To You,” and Varner’s second single and Top 10 Hot R&B/ Hip-Hop hit, “Refill,” includes production by fame production team, Pop Wansel & Oak.
The quirky and humble New York University (NYU) graduate follow up single is “I Don’t Care,” a song MTV Buzzworthy describes as “a slow jam at its finest.” The video was recently shot in New York City and will impact before the end of the summer.
