BRANDY CURRENTLY RECORDING DEBUT ALBUM FOR RCA/CHAMELEON RECORDS
SHOOTING NEW TYLER PERRY MOVIE “THE MARRIAGE COUNSELOR”
Los Angeles, CA (December 6, 2011) – Looking ahead to the new year, BRANDY fans have plenty to be excited about: for starters, the Grammy winning R&B superstar has joined the cast of BET’s top-rated scripted series “THE GAME,” playing Chardonnay, a sassy bartender who unexpectedly becomes Jason’s (played by Coby Bell) new love interest. According to the show’s producers, Brandy’s character is a “fun, strong woman who gives Jason a run for his money because she’s the first woman to turn him down and call him on his BS.” The new season of “The Game” begins Tuesday, January 10, at 10pm ET/PT.
Then there’s Brandy’s debut album for RCA/Chameleon Records, already one of the most anticipated releases of 2012. Brandy is currently in the studio working on the album with a lineup of superstar talent and A-list producers that have been handpicked by Chameleon Records CEO Breyon Prescott, including Sean Garrett, Rico Love, Bangladesh, Timbaland, Frank Ocean, Jim Jonsin, Hit Boy, Ester Dean, Danja Hands and Chris Brown.
If that weren’t enough, Brandy is also shooting Tyler Perry’s upcoming Lionsgate release, “THE MARRIAGE COUNSELOR.” The film is based on Perry’s stage play of the same name.
“This is a dream come true,” says Brandy. “’With ‘The Game,’ I’ve joined the talented cast of a smart and entertaining TV show and I get to work with the amazing [show creator] Mara Brock. And I’m working on a film with Tyler Perry, who’s a genius and someone I’ve always wanted to work with, AND I’m back in the studio working on a new album! Talk about being blessed! I’m surrounded by inspired writers and producers who believe in me as an artist and who want to bless the world with timeless music. Music gives my life a purpose and I'm thankful it lives in me."
Ranked by the RIAA as one of the best-selling female artists in American music history, Brandy has sold more than 20.5 million albums worldwide, while receiving a plethora of awards, including a Grammy, an American Music Award, two Soul Train Music Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, three Billboard Awards, four MTV Awards, six Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, two Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards and three BMI Awards. She arrived with a self-titled debut album at the age of fifteen and went on to record a series of hit CDs that established her as one of the successful R&B/pop female vocalists to emerge in a generation. While maintaining a recording career, Norwood also gained fame for starring in several film and TV projects including the popular UPN sitcom, Moesha (1996-2001), a 1997 version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, a supporting role in the 1998 horror sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, and as a judge on the #1 rated talent competition, “America’s Got Talent.” Brandy and her brother Ray J also appeared in the Vh1 reality series, “Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business.” Brandy has also been spokesmodel for Cover Girl, DKNY and Ultima/Kaneka brand by Brandy.
