[October 1, 2010 - New York, NY] Jazmine Sullivan, the seven-time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, will be joining her longtime idol Mary J. Blige on tour this fall. Beginning October 2nd in Atlanta, the 11-city “Music Saved My Life” jaunt will also feature opening act Miguel and special guest El DeBarge (on select dates). Eager to hit the road, Jazmine states: “I am so excited about this tour because not only is it a great opportunity to showcase my new music but, I have always been in awe of Mary J. Blige. She could have asked anyone to be on this tour with her but she asked me. I'm beyond honored.” Commenting on the addition of Jazmine to the tour, Blige cites: “Jazmine is an amazing singer and great songwriter. Her voice is so needed, so gospel and soul, and so perfect. I'm a fan. I love her.”
While Mary J. Blige is a fan and loves Jazmine, fans that “like” the award-winning songstress on Facebook can enter to win a pair of tickets to one of the shows and meet Jazmine before her performance. Contest runs through October 20th on www.facebook.com/jazminesullivan.
During her set, Jazmine will perform hits from her 2008 critically-praised debut album Fearless and provide audiences with a preview of her follow-up album Love Me Back, set for release on November 30th on J Records. Leading the way for the highly anticipated album release is the Mary J. Blige-influenced first single “Holding You Down (Goin’ In Circles),” which is currently #4 on the Urban Mainstream Chart. The Marcus Raboy-directed old school house party video is currently #1 on VH1 Soul and has been a top ten staple on BET’s 106 & Park since its debut on August 30th. Jazmine’s new single, the explosive “10 Seconds,” will impact radio on October 4th.
Love Me Back showcases the Philly native’s thought-provoking lyrics and soul-wrenching vocals on such tracks as ‘10 Seconds,” “Redemption,” “Excuse Me,” “Famous,” and “U Get On My Nerves,” a stirring duet with Ne-Yo. The album features production by Missy Elliott, Salaam Remi, Ne-Yo, Chuck Harmony, Anthony Bell and No-ID on the Jazmine-penned songs.
Explaining the album’s title, Jazmine summarizes: “I consider being in the music industry like an intimate relationship where I give it my all - love, time, energy, blood, sweat and tears. As much as I put into this relationship, with all its ups and downs, I’m just asking for the industry and the fans to love me back.”
