Undoubtedly, one of the most exciting artists to emerge from the UK scene in recent years, singer, songwriter and producer Labrinth, is gearing up to release his first US single, “Earthquake” ft. Busta Rhymes at iTunes and all digital music providers on 2/21.

“Earthquake” ft. Busta Rhymes is set to explode onto the scene this spring with a new video dropping next month. Labrinth is currently in the studio finishing up his eagerly anticipated debut solo album Electronic Earth, which is expected out later this year (dropping March 19th in the UK).

Peter Edge, CEO, RCA Records says, “I first met Labrinth when he was producing a lot of the freshest new records I’d heard, like “Pass Out” by Tinie Tempah. I came to discover he is a remarkable talent as a writer, producer, musician and most of all, one of the best new artists you will hear this year.”

Signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco Records in the UK, 22-year old Labrinth has become the trailblazing artist on everybody’s lips. Labrinth was just announced as the feature artist of VEVO’s first ever LIFT promotion in the UK. Since featuring on, and producing Tinie Tempah’s “Pass Out” and “Frisky”, Labrinth has quickly become one of the most significant emerging artists of the past 18 months. “Pass Out” won a 2011 Brit Award for Best British Single; and Labrinth also won a 2011 Ivor Novello Award for ‘Pass Out” in the best contemporary song category. Last September the multi-talented musician debuted his first single “Let The Sunshine”. The single rocketed straight into the top three and was still being played on UK radio six months later. The follow up “Earthquake” arrived in October [a year after his debut] and went in at #2. A song of seismic proportions, “Earthquake” (the UK version features long time collaborator Tinie Tempah) and stayed in the top ten for an incredible 12 weeks with over 500k singles sold.

Coming from a musical family, the self-taught Labrinth (born Timothy McKenzie) discovered his talent for music at 13, by going to a local studio whilst still at school and learning to make beats and play guitars and keyboards. He took it upon himself to study music theory as he felt it was important to study his craft and understand the music – and it is this kind of determination and dedication to his work and experimental edge which has lead to him becoming one of the UK’s most visionary young artists.

Labrinth’s debut headline UK tour kicks off in February and is already sold out. He plans to tour North America Spring/Summer 2012.
