Healy Releases New Track “Back on the Fence” ft. Becky and the Birds Today
Announces New Album, Tungsten, Set For Release January 13th – Pre-order Available Now
(December 9, 2020) – Memphis based singer/songwriter/producer Healy releases his latest track for “Back on the Fence” ft. Becky and the Birds today (listen here). The track will be featured on Healy’s upcoming album, Tungsten, which is set for release via Braintrust Records/RCA Records on January 13th (pre-order available here).
“‘Back on the Fence’ depicts this sort of war with redundancy,” says Healy. “I have trouble following through on positive change, and I’ve begun to develop a sensitivity for when I start to regress into old thought patterns and behaviors—stuff like splitting hairs over the smallest things or ironically losing weeks of life at a time to the thought of eventually dying. Writing “Back on the Fence” helped me acknowledge and confront this pattern and gave me a lot of incentive to break the cycle. Becky and the Birds elevated this song to a higher plane, and she did all of her verse from Sweden in a matter of 2-3 days.”
Over the course of the last year, Healy has been teasing the new album by releasing various tracks and accompanying visuals including “Back In Time” ft. Public Library Commute, “Second Wind” as well as “Nikes On.” All three tracks have nearly 10 million streams on Spotify and will be featured on Tungsten.
Performing under only his last name, Healy embodies cardinal themes of his work like self-discovery and non-dualism. He released his debut album Subluxe in 2017 in the wake of his second year of medical school. The album has nearly 60 million audio streams. The lead single, “Unwind,” caught the internet on its heels, helping to establish Healy’s fixed presence as a promising multidimensional artist in a mercurial musical climate. His work is a fearless transgression—a tonal gradient with origins in classic and indie rock, soul, and Memphis rap. The second single, “Reckless” has nearly 50 million streams on Spotify.
