SATURN OUT OCTOBER 26TH – PRE ORDER HERE

[Los Angeles, CA – September 24th, 2018] Nao releases the visual for “Make It Out Alive” ft. SiR. Watch HERE. Filled with stunning images, the video is both subtle and truly moving, captivating viewers from the moment they press play. Nao is joined by the song’s collaborator, TDE recording artist SiR. Together they manage to capture the track’s personal message and reinterpret it in flawless visual form. Nao has also announced her highly-anticipated world tour. Starting off in Japan, she will then go on to perform in North America and Europe, concluding with a show in London’s Brixton Academy on March 28th. (Full dates below).

The video for ‘Make It Out Alive’ explores the transitional period of our lives. We’ve left behind the old and heading into the new but between that we’re lost. Trying to find out direction and our path which can sometimes feel aimless. This is why I chose to shoot the video in the Californian desert. This idea of being consumed by vastness made me feel overwhelmed but hopeful at the same time.” Nao

“Make It Out Alive” follows Nao’s ground-breaking single “Another Lifetime” which marked her musical return, two years after the release of her debut album For All We Know. Nao’s distinctive vocals sail smoothly amongst the waves of soulfulness mixed with her signature, indomitable energy. She explores sounds and travels between genres, further cementing herself as one of the UK’s most original talents. “Another Lifetime” was accompanied by a Zhang + Knight directed visual. Watch HERE. Along with “Make It Out Alive,” “Another Lifetime” and the recent “Drive & Disconnect,” all three tracks serve as the first tasters for Nao’s upcoming sophomore album Saturn which is set to release on October 26th.

On Saturn, Nao is bold and experimental, eager to push things forward and unafraid to offload ideas that have been weighing her down. “My friends kept telling me about the term ‘Saturn Returns’.’ says Nao. ‘It’s this idea that Saturn takes 29 years to orbit from when you’re born and it is the planet of blessings and growth. So by the time you’re around 29, between 27 and 32, something big happens in your life. It’s like waking up and coming of age, like: ‘I’ve been going through my twenties and what have I been doing in this relationship?’ What have I been doing in this job?’ You start to rethink everything – old stuff that your parents taught you or ideas that you believed in. It’s like a complete shedding of skin and it can be painful.

There’s a real sense push and pull to Saturn — it’s complex and conflicted, but there’s a pervading optimism that makes it timeless, just like Nao herself. “It’s not just about heartbreak, it’s a sense of rebirth,” she says. “It’s soul-searching, you know?
