Rod Stewart to Be Honored at 28th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards



NEW YORK, NY -- ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) will honor rock icon Rod Stewart at its 28th Annual Pop Music Awards, taking place April 27, 2011 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. Stewart will be presented with the prestigious ASCAP Founders Award. The invitation-only gala will also honor the top songwriters and publishers of ASCAP's most performed pop songs of 2010.

The ASCAP Founders Award is among the most prestigious honors that ASCAP gives to songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators. Each recipient is a musical innovator who possesses a unique style of creative genius that will enrich generations to come. Past recipients include Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, Heart's Ann & Nancy Wilson, Billy Joel, Annie Lennox, Sir Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Smokey Robinson, Patti Smith, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Tom Waits, Stevie Wonder and Neil Young.

Commenting on the award to Stewart, ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams said: "Throughout his career, Rod has touched on many different genres of music, delivering his prolific songwriting talents, unique sound, and energetic performances to audiences around the world. He continues to be a major voice in music today, and we are very proud to honor him with ASCAP's Founders Award."

Adam Lambert Returns To The American Idol Stage

American Idol Season 8 runner-up, global superstar and Grammy nominee, Adam Lambert will be returning to the American Idol stage on Thursday, March 10th to perform an acoustic version of “Aftermath”. American Idol airs on FOX from 8:00-9:00pm live ET/tape-delayed PT.

Immediately following Lambert’s performance on American Idol, a remix of “Aftermath” (remixed by Billboard) will be made available on AdamOfficial.com with part of the proceeds going to support The Trevor Project.



Says Lambert, "Billboard turns the song into a fresh new dance pop anthem to blast on the radio and in the clubs!"

Sarah McLachlan Show Rescheduled to April 30th

The Sarah McLachlan show at Prospera Place in Kelowna originally scheduled for March 2nd has been moved to Saturday, April 30th. Tickets purchased for the March 2nd show will be honoured at the venue on the new date. Refunds are available at point of purchase until April 1st for ticketholders unable to attend the rescheduled performance.

Turner Sports and CBS Sports announced today that they will roll out a unified multi-platform marketing campaign to promote the 2011 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. The campaign will feature a full-length music video featuring the four-time GRAMMY® Award winning band Kings of Leon, who will perform the song “The Immortals,” off the RIAA Gold-certified Come Around Sundown. The video will debut nationally across 5,800 movie screens from March 4 – 17. The video, along with a comprehensive cross-platform campaign, is designed to promote awareness, educate and inform viewers about the unprecedented access to all the games during NCAA March Madness®, which for the first time in the tournament’s 73-year history, will be available live in their entirety across four national television networks: CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV. The campaign will conclude when Kings of Leon headlines the Coca-Cola Zero™ Countdown on Saturday, April 2, part of The Big Dance® Concert Series during the 2011 MEN’S FINAL FOUR weekend in Houston.
