Other highlights include “Best thing for me,” an empowering, soul-filled declaration where she picks up the pieces, supports herself, and moves through life with a new-found grace. Samaria’s personal journey is far from over, but the best version of herself is right around the corner.
With over 10.6 million streams worldwide, Samaria is a force to be reckoned with. Last year, she was featured in People’s 2022 winter “Emerging Artists” column. This came after her EP Didn’t Start With You, a project that showcases her refreshingly raw and vulnerable storytelling and voice. Alongside her EP, she supported the project with music videos “Out The Way” and “Still Got 4ever,” and was featured on the I Wanna Dance With Somebody Soundtrack. Last year, she wrapped up a sold-out North American tour opening up for British girl group FLO and had performed at the Sol Blume Festival in Sacramento.
Samaria’s latest release is only just the beginning of what she’s been working on. Stay tuned for more coming soon as she continues to carefully craft a style of her own, with moments of vivid vulnerability and vocal velveteen.

Samaria’s music doubles as a safe space and a healing tool, soundtracked by a blend of R&B, soul with subtle nods to her love for ‘00s pop. Her raw authenticity can be partly attributed to her upbringing in California’s historically artistic Bay Area – specifically Oakland and Berkeley. She was surrounded by music growing up, as her mother was a singer and her father belonged to a local rap group. But when she wasn’t performing ‘90s classics like Deborah Cox’s “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here” at her mother’s Kingdom Hall, Samaria was on her skateboard skating to visionaries like Justin Timberlake, Paramore, Aaliyah, Destiny’s Child and Lauryn Hill or blasting hits like “Cry Me A River” and “One In A Million” in her late grandmother’s car. Samaria’s grandmother was her biggest influence. She ultimately gave her the push to fulfill her dreams and when she passed away 2 weeks after Samaria started high school, it sent her on a downward spiral where she ultimately found her way through it by writing lyrics chronicling journey through pain which became her guide and therapy.
One of her first uploads to SoundCloud, a remix of Drake’s So Far Gone fan favorite “Brand New,” quickly caught the attention of a local producer. Their collaboration led to the 2016 release of Samaria’s debut project, The Story of Right Now, the featured video was Samaria’s video directorial debut. She later followed up with the Adventures of Lovergirl EP in 2019, whose lyrical trajectory ranging from helplessly falling in lust to confronting heartbreak. More recently, she released her 2022 EP Didn’t Start With You, which showcases the multifaceted range of a strong woman’s emotions. Now, new RCA Records signee shares her most elevated pieces of music to date as she explores and experiments with her sound and continues to use her music to heal and inspire women to be more self-aware. Even Paradise Rains is woven together by Samaria’s intimate songwriting on the experiences that make us human.
