Meet Keith Rothschild, Head of Promotion
What was the first record you fell in love with?
KISS “Destroyer”. I was 8 years old and had never heard anything like it. Just loud rock and roll. And then I saw what they looked like and I was instantly blown away. I wore KISS makeup and set up fake shows with my friends.
What is the most important thing about your work at RCA?
Working together as a team to break new artists and continue the journey of our heritage artists. The RCA team is like family and there are no egos involved. It’s all about our artists!
What was a critical moment in music history for you?
Grunge taking over for hair metal. 1990-1994 is my favorite time in music. It helped shape where I was heading in life. Going to concerts every other night is how I got my foot in the door of the record industry.
Name a record that has had a significant impact on you.
Red Hot Chili Peppers “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”. My favorite album of all time. I remember exactly where I bought it, where I listened to it first and to this day, I’ll listen to it front to back without a skip.
What live performance will you never forget?
So many. Top 5: Fishbone at the Limelight, Pearl Jam opening for the Smashing Pumpkins opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Roseland, Nirvana at Roseland, Thelonious Monster at CBGBs and Radiohead at CBGBs.
